Who doesn’t love a meal where you can do a tiny bit of prep work, throw a tray in the oven and just leave it be for several hours?
If this is the type of meal that you’re looking for, than this recipe is for you!
But it gets better – not only is this recipe quick and easy, uses minimal ingredients and is great for the entire family – but it can also be made to be healthy!
My favourite meals are those that I can make for my whole family, and make small alterations for myself so that it fits within my healthy lifestyle. Win win!
How do I do that with ribs? 4 words:
Sugar Free BBQ Sauce!
Yes, it’s that easy. I do everything that I would do normally to make ribs for my family, but rather than slathering it all with a regular sugar filled BBQ sauce at the end, I take a section for myself and add my favourite sugar free sauce.
I do want to mention that these ribs do not require sauce. They are perfectly delicious plain, with just the added seasoning. However as any of us who are on any type of diet or health journey know, it’s nice to have that extra sweetness once in a while and not feel guilty!

When it comes to buying sugar free BBQ sauces you need to be careful as a lot of labels can be misleading. Always check the nutrition facts and ingredients list on the bottle to make sure it fits within your preferred lifestyle.
I personally try to avoid as much sugar and carbs as possible, as I follow a lifestyle called * Meto *
*Definition – Meto – similar to ‘Keto’, except I do what I want. I mostly follow the diet, but I don’t fill my body full of unnecessary fats, I’m not totally strict on my net carb intake anymore, and I don’t overly worry about non-keto approved ingredients (although I still do my best to eat the healthiest foods that I can)
Ok, ok! Back to the BBQ sauce.
My favourite sugar free sauces are from the brand ‘G Hughes Sugar Free‘. There is a wide variation of sauces to choose from for all your needs – ribs, pulled pork, marinades, etc. You can check out their product on their website at this link > G Hughes Sugar Free Sauce.
Most higher end grocery stores sell this brand, and if you’re in Canada or more specifically Ontario, specific stores such as Loblaws, Metro, etc. If you’re unable to find it in stores, check out the location finder on their website (FIND OUR SAUCES — G Hughes Sugar Free Sauce)
